This image is a composition of two photos taken the same day, from the same spot. To the right, we see the Sun as it sets behind Likavitos mountain at Athens. To the left, the 23 hour new Moon sets 52 minutes later. The similar azimuth of the two celestial objects over the mountain is the key for this photo synthesis.
Good atmospheric conditions are crucial in order to view or capture the thin crescent. During the shooting, Moon was invisible to the naked eye.
