Ancient temple and young Moon. The 2500 year old Parthenon and the New Moon (just over a day old) in a rare conjunction. The good seeing and transparency conditions contributed to success in capturing the thin crescent from inside the heavily light polluted city of Athens. The photo is a composition of six stacked shots taken at 2 minute intervals. Note that the Moon hides behind the temple and then partially reapers just before it dive below the horizon. The shot is taken from the top of the Panathinaiko ancient stadium. |
