This startrail photo was taken at Kallimarmaro Stadium, Athens, during the Earth Hour. The first Olympic games of the modern history took place at this stadium at 1896. All the lights from the archeological sites, public buildings and many more went off for an hour at March 26 from 20:30 to 21:30. Have a look at the sky. Many constellations showed up during the Earth Hour and they vanished again under the blighting spotlights. Even when all these lights went off I was still able to see with the same ease, so I conclude that the excess lighting is not only costly but useless as well. Turn off some lights please! |
