Pointing to the Milky Way core. This is a reprocessed photo I took from Ikaria island. The technique of emphasizing the bright stars while the faint stars are still sharp is known as Akira Fujii effect named after the Japanese astrophotographer and astronomer who first widely used it at constellation photographs. We can achieve similar results with a diffusion filter or with digital processing techniques. Role the mouse over the photo to see the difference without the technique applied. What can I say... A big thanks to Akira Fujii for making our constellation photos much more interesting! |
