It's all about light! Astrophotography doesn’t differentiate from all the things that apply to any other kind of photography. A basic photography rule is that you need light to get the job done. The main challenge we face when we shoot at night is that usually we don't have enough light to illuminate the scene. So what should you do? Make the best use of what is available, or event create it! In the above photo we see a startrail scene fully illuminated by the full Moon. But, startrails with full Moon?... Yes!!! You may lose a bit from the star colors and intensity but you gain much as everything is nice and bright. Some other ways to illuminate a night scene: A flash light. Your car lights. Light pollution. The Sun. (The idea is to include some shots taken after sunset or before sunrise). |
